Serve
We are committed to equipping God’s people
through hands-on opportunities to serve
neighbors in need in Austin, in Minnesota,
and around the world. Mission opportunities
range from a few hours to day trips to week-
long mission trips for youth and adults.
Through prayers and financial gifts, Our
Savior’s supports God’s work in many places.

Visual Arts
This ministry team seeks to
serve Our Savior’s by enhancing
our church and worship
environment with visual arts
throughout the liturgical year.
Members meet seasonally to
plan sanctuary and other church
decorations, including floral
displays, banners, Christmas,
Easter decorations, etc.

Sound Crew
These volunteers are trained to
operate the sound board during
worship services to ensure that
all parts of worship are heard
clearly and distinctly. This crew
also sets up additional
microphones as needed for
special music, baptisms, etc.

Video Crew
In order to make possible the
broadcast of our worship to the
community, each 9:00 worship
service is taped using two
cameras and a video booth in
the balcony. A minimum of
training is required for this
important behind-the-scenes
ministry. Camera Operator and
Director positions available.

Savior’s.

The Church Office
Ushers
Each Sunday and at special
services a team of ushers assists
in passing out bulletins, lighting
candles, cleaning up the
sanctuary following worship, and
being available to the pastors for
any special tasks or emergencies
that may arise.

Offering Counters
After each service a team of
envelope counters totals up the
morning offering, records and
deposits it. This is great way to
contribute in another behind-
the-scenes way.

Altar Guild
This group, always open to
newcomers, prepares the altar
and chancel areas of the
sanctuary for worship
(communion set-up and clean-
up, change altar paraments,
candles and more).

Coffee Servers
The Coffee Hour is an important
time for our congregation.
Knutson Hall is always buzzing
with conversation and laughter
as young and old meet together
between services to enjoy treats
and coffee. Teams of 5-6 people
volunteer once or twice a year. A
fun way to meet lots of people at
church.

Altar Flowers
Anyone may request flowers to
be purchased in memory of or in
honor of a special person, or on
a special occasion (anniversary,
birthday, baptism, etc.) Simply
contact the church office for
dates and cost.

Scripture Readers
Many people enjoy contributing
to worship by reading the
appointed scripture passages for
each Sunday. Scripture readings
are sent out ahead of time and
practiced by readers.

Acolytes
All 5th graders serve as acolytes
in the year following their First
Communion instruction. They
light candles in worship, assist
with communion and any other
worship-related tasks that may
arise on the Sundays they serve.

Shepharding
If visiting the elderly is your
love, this is for you. Members of
this ministry are blessed and are
a blessing as they befriend some
of our senior members who
could easily be forgotten.
Visitation is expected at least
once a month on your own
schedule, but many people find
it so rewarding they meet much
more often than that!

Prayer Shawls
Prayer shawls become a tangible
reminder of God’s loving
embrace for those experiencing
a challenging time in their life
due to illness, loss, loneliness or
some other circumstance.
Anyone is invited to select a
prayer shawl to deliver to a
friend in need. Please fill out a
yellow slip and take a prayer
folder to deliver with the shawl.
For those who wish to become
involved in knitting or crocheting
prayer shawls, basic patterns
are available as handouts or
may be accessed online at
www.waitingroomministry.com.
A gray plastic tub in Pastor
Karen’s office is filled with yarn
that is free for the taking and
making of prayer shawls.

Quilts and Crafts
Every other Monday morning at
9:00 from September through
May, these women meet in the
Fellowship Hall to make quilts
and do crafts, pack clothing, or
do sewing to benefit agencies
like Lutheran World Relief, Marie
Sandvik Center of Minneapolis,
St. Mark’s Lutheran Home, or
Good Earth Village. This is a
great way to get to know some
wonderful women and do some
important ministry for people
across the world.

month, this group meets in the
Fellowship Hall from 1-4:30 p.m.
All quilts made are given to
