Communion    is    one    of    two    sacraments observed     in     Lutheran     tradition.     Our communion   table   is   open   to   all   because these   are   “the   gifts   of   God   for   the   people of   God,   and   all   are   welcome   because   the gifts   of   God   are   free .” At   Our   Savior’s,   we welcome    all    to    partake    in    communion, including   children.   We   invite   your   child   to participate   in   communion   whenever   you and   they   decide   they’re   ready.   If   you’d like   some   materials   to   help   your   children gain    an    understanding    of    communion, please         contact         Billie         Jo         at bjwicks@oursaviorsaustin.org .   We   have   a great   book   that   we’d   love   to   share   with you. We      offer      a      formalized      communion instruction   milestone   for   all   5th   graders and   their   families   during   the   season   of Lent.    This    culminates    in    a    communion celebration   for   these   students   on   Maundy Thursday     during     worship.     For     some children,    this    will    be    their    first    time communing   and   for   others   it   is   a   great opportunity    to    delve    deeper    into    what communion is and why we do it.    If   you   have   any   questions   or   would   like more    information    about    our    views    on communion    and    children,    please    speak with Billie Jo or any of the pastors.
